Veronica Calderon is the chief belonging and university relations officer at DeVry University. In her role, she fosters a strong sense of connection among students, faculty, and colleagues, while overseeing university relations, alumni engagement, communications and social responsibility efforts. She also works closely with the DeVry Scholarship Fund, a 501(c)(3) public charity that works in partnership with but separate from DeVry University to support student success.
With more than 20 years of leadership experience across various industries, Calderon has held executive roles at Truliant Federal Credit Union, Aldersgate Life Plan Organization, Carolinas HealthCare System and Wells Fargo Bank. Throughout her career, she has been dedicated to creating inclusive environments where people feel valued and empowered.
Calderon’s contributions have earned her numerous accolades, including recognition by HRO Today, the Charlotte Business Journal’s Women in Business Achievement Awards and by Career Mastered Magazine’s IMPACT 50 List, which highlights influential women making a difference in their field. She has also been honored as UNC Charlotte’s Empowering Latina Woman of the Year and Business Woman of the Year by La Noticia Exelente Awards.
Actively involved in her community, Calderon is serves as the Board Chair for Communities in Schools in Charlotte, NC., and previously held the position of Vice Chair for the Latin Chamber of Commerce.
Calderon holds an undergraduate degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix and an MBA from Belk College. She has earned professional certifications in human resources and leadership from such organizations and associations as Cornell University, SHRM, and the Charlotte Chamber Emerging Business Leaders.
