LISLE, Ill. – March 4, 2025 – DeVry University in partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of North Central Illinois will host HerWorld event: A Girl's World in STEM on Wednesday, March 12, at 4:15 p.m.
An initiative by DeVry University, HerWorld empowers girls to see themselves as future leaders and innovators by tapping into their curiosity through hands-on experiences and hearing from other women in STEM fields. During the program, girls from the Boys & Girls Clubs in grades 5th through 8th will participate in a variety of workshops that provide technical and scientific experiences.
Hosted by DeVry’s Vice President of Public Workforce Solutions Scarlett Howery, the event will feature NBC5 Chicago award-winning meteorologist and keynote speaker, Iisha Scott; Dr. La’Quata Sumter, DeVry’s professor, children’s author and STEM/STEAM philanthropist who leads drone and engineering camps throughout the country; as well as leaders from Nicor and ComEd.
