DeVry University Announces New Graduate Certificate Program in Innovation

DeVry is fulfilling its commitment to prepare learners for a tech-driven workforce

LISLE, Ill. – Jan. 27, 2025 – DeVry University announced today the expansion of its certificate programs, launching the Graduate Certificate in Innovation to prepare the next generation of AI, technology and business leaders. Harnessing the power of DeVry’s partnership with 1871, select coursework will combine academic learning with 1871's real-world industry practices.

“Innovation is at the core of all that we do from the hands-on learning embedded in the curriculum, to the proactive Care we provide our students, to the use of academic technology in the classrooms, to the stackable certificate and degree programs our students pursue,” said Shantanu Bose, Ph.D., DeVry University’s provost and chief academic officer. “Our collaboration with 1871 helps enhance the new Graduate Certificate Program in Innovation by putting relevant knowledge and experience at our students’ fingertips so they can thrive in careers shaped by continuous technological change.”

1871, Chicago’s premier innovation hub for entrepreneurs and innovators, is known for being a catalyst in the city’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. Through this partnership, students will delve into product development strategies and design thinking methodologies.

DeVry University has been leading the way in using AI learning technologies to improve its learner and classroom experiences and prepare students to thrive in a tech-driven workplace. Since 2018, DeVry has used an adaptive learning platform powered by AI to improve math course outcomes. In 2020, DeVry introduced its first AI and machine learning (ML) course, and since then, several AI, ML and data analytics courses have been embedded in its degree programs and certificates. Most recently, DeVry launched the AI and Business Analytics track within its MBA program. In fact, each of DeVry’s bachelor’s program and the majority of Keller Graduate School of Management master’s programs feature AI courses, offered as either required components or elective options.

“At DeVry, we are constantly innovating our academic programs to create more opportunities and prepare learners to succeed in today’s evolving economy,” added Lenore Goldberg, J.D., DeVry University’s dean of colleges and curriculum. “This certificate will equip students with the skills to drive change by engaging at the intersection of technology, leadership and design thinking in business.”

The Graduate Certificate Program in Innovation will be available for the March 2025 session and can be earned in three courses, each of which can be applied toward an eligible master’s degree, such as the Master in Business Administration.
